S-COM, LLC, has been around since the 1980’s manufacturing repeater controllers and air-to-ground base stations. From the Big Board, MRC100, 5K, 6K, 7K and 7330, many thousands of S-COM controllers are on the air right now running repeaters, autopatches, remote bases and link systems in amateur radio and commercial service.
I joined S-COM in 1995 to add Doug Hall RBI-1 support to the 7K. That partnership continues thru the popular 7330 that was discontinued due to supply chain issues, not due to lack of interest. Firmware releases continue taking advantage of existing hardware features and there’s more to come.
Why Start JHK Labs?
S-COM Bob decided that he didn’t want to work on a next generation controller product. I started JHK Labs to continue the S-COM legacy of advanced, flexible, high-quality repeater controllers and to offer accessories that make installation easier. The next generation controller adds modern (for 2024/25) interfaces and software capabilities. Stay tuned for more information about this product line.
I also envisioned JHK Labs offering additional products in related areas of repeaters and linking: RoIP Linking, Site Management and Ham Shack accessories. Generally, these are projects I took on to simplify the deployment and maintenance of repeater sites deployed across Colorado. We realized that others can benefit from them as well and are making them available. For Ham Shack accessories, this is a general category that includes items that would be extremely useful during Field Day, POTA, SOTA and other deployments. Check back for additions to this selection.
If there’s a solution you are looking for that you haven’t found anywhere else, drop us an email. We might already be working on a project in that area.
